One of the most overlooked parts of buying a new fence isn't the wood, the hardware, or even the price—it's the warranty. Almost every contractor will tell you they "stand behind their work," but what does that actually mean? Before hiring a fence company, ask for their warranty in writing. A contractor who truly stands behind their craftsmanship shouldn't hesitate to explain exactly what is and isn't covered.

A Warranty Is Only as Good as the Company Behind It

A 10-year warranty sounds great, but it doesn't mean much if the company isn't around next year. Look for a contractor with an established local reputation, a history of completed projects, and plenty of verified reviews. The goal isn't just to get a warranty—it's to know there will be someone to answer the phone if you ever need it.

What Should Be Covered?

Every company is different, but you should ask questions like:

What happens if a post starts leaning?
What if a gate begins to sag?
Are defective materials covered?
Is hardware included?
Are there any maintenance requirements to keep the warranty valid?
